For many Christmas in a joyous occasion but for others it is often an emotional time even when you don’t have cancer.
This year it will be an emotional time for us, our first Christmas without Shelli. She was the heart and soul of our Christmas and loved present giving, especially for Lyla and Hudson (and me), and organising the food. Even last year when very ill Shelli rose to the occasion and was exhausted at the end of the day.
This year we will be confronted with taking stock of the past year and our lives. If you have cancer, it can be a reminder that you aren’t as healthy as you once were or would like to be. So you might feel a range of emotions thinking about what you have been through and what may happen in the future. There is no right or wrong way to feel as everyone reacts and copes in their own way.
Family, friends and cancer patients most likely have similar feelings so maybe chatting about it may help. Hopefully the day will allow you to forget all about cancer for a while and enjoy yourself.
