A common side effect of chemotherapy and radiation can be dry mouth making swallowing difficult.
It occurs when the salivary glands do not make enough saliva, or spit, to keep the mouth moist. Avoid dry, coarse, or hard foods and avoid acidic or spicy foods that can burn your mouth.
To help your meal go down a little easier try moistening your food by covering it with sauces, gravies, or even low fat milk. Liquefying foods in a blender if eating becomes too difficult.
