Being kind to your skin is one of the more important routines to adopt during treatment for both radiation and chemotherapy.

Skin is an organ and a barrier to fluid loss; any time it is compromised by a burn or sunburn and can struggle to maintain proper hydration levels. Showers are preferable to baths. Water should be warm rather than hot to avoid any further irritation.

Our Kit includes products to help with your treatment including Burt’s Bees Lip Balm to moisturise your lips, thankyou Hand Cream to show your skin some love,  thankyou Nappy Balm for relief if you have a “butt” problem and a handmade soft cotton washcloth.

Also included are products especially helpful during radiation.

  • Frequently moisturise the skin at least twice a day after your daily radiation treatment with the Skin Basics Sobolene, suitable for sensitive skin, hypoallergenic and pH balanced, non-greasy, fast absorbing and free of colour, perfume and lanolin. This will help prevent dryness.
  •  Cleanse skin gently with the Goat Soap. Goats milk naturally contains lactic acid that may assist in to breakdown of dead skin cells, is packed with vitamins, essential fatty acids and amino acids. Pat area dry with a soft towel. Do not rub.
  • For mild pinkness, itching, and burning, apply the  Thursday Plantation Aloe Vera Gel, free from mineral oils, lauryl sulphates, synthetic fragrances and animal derived ingredients. This may help soothe the skin if it is feeling hot.

Always consult your medical team if you are having problems or using other creams, powders or lotions to ensure you do not experience any additional problems or discomfort.
