Special occasions: Easter

Time to celebrate Easter. Special occasions can bring mixed emotions if you have cancer.

It can be a reminder that you are not as healthy as you once were or would like to be. Side effects from treatment may also make celebrating difficult.

Your emotions may be challenged thinking about what you have been through and what may happen in the future. There is no right or wrong way to feel as everyone reacts and copes in their own way.

Maybe a chat with family and friends will help to establish how much you can manage of the festivities. Hopefully you can forget all about cancer for a while and enjoy yourself.

For those who have lost someone to cancer, feelings of sadness and loneliness often feel stronger at this time. This is all completely normal. This year the Easter egg hunt will not be quite the same without Shelli. She loved hiding the eggs for the kids to collect. It’s important to make memories to remember the good times. This year (2015) poor Shelli hide the eggs and then had to collect them because the sun came out and they all started to melt and then she hide them again.
