As a result of your illness and treatment you may experience your taste changing.

A bitter or metallic taste in the mouth is a common problem associated with chemotherapy. Avoid foods that can taste bitter or metallic. Foods that you would normal eat can change in taste affecting the way you enjoy food and could lead to a less nutritious diet. Some foods may taste bland or it all tastes the same. This can cause a loss of appetite and lead to weight loss.

We have popped some fruit tingles in Kit. When food tastes yucky fruit tingles can help to cleanse the palette, get your mouth working, and taste OK. Always keep a pack in your bag.

Peter Mac advises:

Nibbling on moist fruit, such as berries or melon, or sucking boiled sweets may help overcome unpleasant tastes in the mouth. Ginger- flavoured lollies may be helpful, as may small sips of flavoured drinks. Artificially sweetened food and drinks, rather than those with natural sugar added, are recommended for good dental health.

Consult your medical team if your experience is on going or rapid weight loss.
