Skin sensitivity and the sun

It’s Autumn but we are still getting warm to hot sunny days. It has been amazingly perfect weather in Melbourne.

Treatment can cause changes to your skin, as both radiation therapy and chemotherapy can cause sensitivity to the sun. During chemotherapy, it is best to avoid direct exposure to the sun to avoid burning of the skin. Be aware of sun sensitivity and always take precautions when going outside including sunscreen and protective clothing including that important hat.

Speak to your medical team for advice on managing skin changes during treatment. The Look Good, Feel Better program at Peter Mac can also help you manage changes to your skin.
