Handle oral chemotherapy drugs safely

The cancer patient can handle the oral chemotherapy drugs because it is their medication. They should wash their hands after taking the drugs and before touching anything else.

Sometimes patient’s family or carers are required to help the patient to handle the medication. They should never touch chemotherapy medicine with their bare hands. Invest in rubber gloves as the chemotherapy drug could be absorbed into the person’s body through their skin.

Always wash your hands after taking off the gloves and hand sanitise for extra care. We’ve popped a pocket size Thank you hand sanitiser in Kit.

If the patient cannot swallow the tablets, talk to their medical team immediately.
