Check kerbs and walkways

In this cold, icy and rainy weather the ground becomes slippery or wet. Always stop at kerbs and check the height before stepping up or down.

If using walkways designed for grocery carts, wheelchairs and motorised mobility scooters be extra careful because the incline up or down may lead to a fall.

A simple slip walking off a kerb may seem relatively harmless but can lead to severe injury. Bones weakened from metastatic cancer can break or fracture. It is extremely important for the patient to take special care.

If you do fall let your medical team and your caregivers know. They might need to check you for injuries.
