That wet Winter towel

Bath towels have the ideal breeding ground for growing germs especially in this cold weather if they are hanging damp in the bathroom. As the towel remains wet, it retains moisture, allowing bacteria to breed.   If they develop a smell, that’s actually bacteria, fungus, and mildew.

To avoid the spread of illness-causing germs change your towels often and hang them to dry in an open space. One of the most effective germ-killers is the sun as the ultraviolet radiation kills germs but this is difficult in Winter so 30 minutes in the dryer goes a long way to killing germs.

NEVER share face and bath towels, especially wet ones. it’s unsanitary and can expose you to various germs and potential diseases or health conditions. A  towel has the ability to retain moisture bacteria such as a staph infection that can live on for few hours, days, or even months.  Never share towels with anyone — not even family members.

Also be wary of which towel is yours when travelling, make sure you remember which towel belongs to you.
