Stop infection

Cancer patients and especially Lymphoedema sufferers have to be vigilant and have a constant battle to stop infection through the skin.

Clean any cuts, scrapes, sores or stings straight away, using warm water, soap and antiseptic and try not to be tempted to squeeze any pimples/blackheads. Wear gloves when cleaning to stop germs getting into any cuts. Never garden without wearing gloves and shoes to reduce the chance of getting scratches, scrapes, or insect bites that could get infected. It’s rose pruning time so take care not to be scratched by the thorns!!

Moisturise your hands and feet  at least once a day with a good skin cream and avoid cuts, splits and abrasions. All this hand washing and hand sanitising can leave your hands cracked and dry. It’s important to keep those hands moisturised.
