Is it a Cold or the Flu?

I can remember when Shelli was pleased to find out that she was sick with a “normal person’s illness” such as the flu and not have respiratory problems and feeling ill because of her treatment. While everyone around her has feeling so ill from the flu, she was quite relaxed about it knowing it wasn’t the cancer or treatment making her feel so bad. Both a common cold and influenza are contagious respiratory illnesses, but cold symptoms are usually milder than influenza symptoms. Flu symptoms usually come on suddenly.

Signs and Symptoms of the Common Cold

  • Chills
  • Sometimes diarrhea and vomiting

* Not everyone with flu will have a fever.
