Don’t let the cold weather slow you down! Lack of light is no excuse now, the shortest day has passed and the daylight is getting longer again. If you still cannot bear to head outdoors, increase your fitness at home – there are some fabulous videos now including walking.
For cancer patients some days are harder than others to think about exercising, especially when experiencing strong side effects. A few minutes of light exercise, a walk around the house, light stretching is better than no exercise at all. Remember, don’t overdo it, be as physically active as your body and condition allow.
Take care with uneven surfaces, we don’t want any trips or falls. Patients undergoing cancer treatment are more at risk for osteoporosis and bones weakened from metastatic cancer can break or fracture. Extreme care needs to be taken not to trip or fall. Use a walking frame or stick to steady you if necessary.
Try setting yourself a few goals, some for good and bad days, to help you stay focused.
