Express your feelings

It’s normal to feel sadness after you have been diagnosed with cancer. Patients and survivors can reflect with sadness to the changes and path their life has taken, the loss of good health and the ability to do some of the activities they once enjoyed. Sadness about the uncertainty of the future is also a worry.

They may feel angry about how cancer has affected them financially, emotionally and physically. A certain amount of anger is normal and can range from mild, frustration to rage.

It could be good for them to express their feelings with friends or family, other cancer survivors, a support group, or a counselor. to help them let go. Another way to sort out feelings is by writing them down. We have included a journal in kit that can be used for this.
