Fever of 38°C or higher is often the first sign of an infection. Infection is a common side effect of cancer and cancer treatments. Be alert to this early sign and keep a check of your temperature twice a day especially when your neutrophil or WBC count is low. Keep a record of your temperature. We’ve included a thermometer and journal in Kit to help with this.
Infections mainly occur in the lungs, mouth, throat, sinuses and skin. If you develop a fever or fatigue, sore throat, shortness of breath, redness, pain, swelling or a sore/wound that doesn’t heal, seek urgent medical attention immediately.
