The home environment

Patients undergoing cancer treatment are more at risk of osteoporosis and bones weakened from metastatic cancer can break or fracture. Extreme care needs to be taken not to fall.

Look at rearranging the home environment so that frequently used items are at an easy to reach height.  Don’t risk falling off a chair or stool trying to reach something from a high cupboard. Consider asking someone else to assist to avoid the hazardous implications of falling from a height.

If you fall, let your medical team and your caregivers know. They might need to check you for injuries.
