Sun hat or beanie day

How do you explain that we can have four seasons in one day! We have had some glorious April Autumn days. I hope you have been well enough to enjoy a few of them.

For a cancer patient Autumn can be a choice of a sun hat or beanie day! Be aware of sun sensitivity on sunny Autumn days and always take precautions when going outside including sunscreen and protective clothing including that important hat. The sun in Autumn can still pack a punch through those colourful leaves. Treatment can cause changes to your skin, as both radiation therapy and chemotherapy can cause sensitivity to the sun. During chemotherapy, it is best to avoid direct exposure to the sun to avoid burning of the skin.

Then suddenly those cold spells take hold and it’s beanie time. With no hair you have no “insulation” on your head so cover up because much of your body heat will be lost through the head and shoulders. Learn to style in layers that you can take off or put on to accommodate the daily weather changes.

Let’s now see what May has to offer!
