Don’t walk on eggshells

Often when a friend or family member has cancer you don’t know what to say or how to act. It can be hard to know how to talk to them. Its nice to simply ask “How was your day?” The last thing most cancer patients want to deal with someone “walking on eggshells” around them.  It’s vital to try to keep your relationship as normal as possible and not treat them like they should be kept in a bubble.

Conversation doesn’t have to be all about cancer. Light conversation, funny stories, chatting about TV series or a laugh together can bring normality to their day. Be honest, share how you feel and it’s okay to joke. It’s important that life and your relationship is still as normal as possible.
