International Bath Day

WOW, who would have thought there is an International Bath Day, observed annually June 14. Legend has it that on June 14th Greek mathematician, scientist and scholar, Archimedes, discovered while taking a bath that an object’s volume could be accurately measured by being submerged in water!

Relaxing in a bath can be so rewarding and it’s important for your hygiene to keep clean. Keep the water temperature comfortable. Super-hot baths are a no no as they may dry the skin out excessively because soaking in very hot water can cause the lipid barrier in the skin to break down, which can lead to a loss of moisture. Be gentle when you wash and pat dry. Apply a moisturiser immediately after a bath as this will help lock in moisture and replace the natural oils lost.

Install rubber mats in your bath to prevent slipping. Installing safety install rails and handles where you need them are a fantastic idea. Bathing can be exhausting make you feel more tired and you can feel too exhausted to dress.  A seat in the bathroom allows you to sit and dry yourself.

Consult your medical team if you have any concerns about your skin.
