It’s important to replace those electrolytes

Many patients on chemotherapy experience nausea and vomiting, some more severely than others.  Vomiting and diarrhoea can also be caused by highly contagious viral infections. To function correctly, your body needs both water and electrolytes (such as sodium, potassium and chloride). Water helps to maintain body temperature, digest food and lubricate tissues and joints. Electrolytes, help to retain fluid, and maintain good nerve and muscle function.

We’ve included Hydralyte in our Kit for Cancer case as it is best thing to ensure that you replenish all of your electrolytes back into your body. It is scientifically formulated to contain the correct balance of glucose and electrolytes for rapid rehydration. The formulation is based on the World Health Organisation criteria for effective rehydration. Water alone, or sugary drinks are not as effective as Hydralyte, as they do not replace electrolytes which are lost during bouts of vomiting and diarrhoea help.

Also included in our kit is a KeepCupIt’s great for water too, not just for coffee. Drinking water left in an open glass/cup is not super sanitary.

Consult your medical team if diarrhoea continues over 24 hours, particularly if watery or persistent vomiting that lasts more than 24 hours or nausea lasting more than 48 hours despite taking anti nausea medication.
