Eating can be a concern and stressful for cancer patients and may avoid food or drink due to nausea or other side effects from chemotherapy,  Changed sense of taste or smell, feeling full, tumor growth, dehydration can be causes for poor appetite. Add to that side effects of treatment, trouble swallowing, depression, pain, nausea, or vomiting and the patient can soon have little or no interest in food.

In Winter offer to make the patient a warm, soothing meal such as a hearty soup or stew Be sure to take the food in non returnable containers as it can be a stressful trying to figure out how the dishes will be returned.

Hydration is important so keep up your fluids.  We’ve included Hydralyte in our Kit. It is scientifically formulated to contain the correct balance of glucose and electrolytes for rapid rehydration.  Consult your medical team if eating problems persist.
