One of the unfortunate side-effects of some chemotherapy is mouth ulcers and sore lips. Chemotherapy can cause cracked lips through dryness, cracking, soreness, bleeding, infections that are fungal in origin, and cold sores from herpes simplex. This can be extremely painful especially when you open your mouth wide you develop badly, cracked lips on the sides and they could bleed.
This wintry weather does not help and a cold or flu can trigger mouth ulcers if your lips become too dry and you accidentally bite them. It helps to keep the affected area clean and to apply a soothing lip balm to help keep your lips moist and feeling good.
We add a Burt’s Bees Beeswax lip balm to our kit for cancer case. This natural lip balm is loaded with coconut and sunflower oils, rich in vitamins and essential fatty acids, to nourish, condition and soften lips. Beeswax seals in hydration. They added peppermint oil for a refreshing tingle.
Consult your medical team if your lip problems continue as it can cause difficulty in talking, eating, and drinking.
