Spring is finally here and hopefully the start of some beautiful weather. Cancer patients may start to feel some relief knowing those extremely cold days causing extra pain may nearly be behind us for this year. Those warmer days can work wonders and the gardens start to come to life. It’s a good time to start thinking about sun protection as Spring is an especially important time to be aware of ultra violet (UV) exposure.
Spring weather encourages you to be active as your abilities and condition allows. Getting out of the house and taking a walk or exercise can help you focus on other things. It’s also a great chance to replenish your Vitamin D stores. Vitamin D is a hormone controlling calcium absorption and bone growth to regulating our immune system and reducing the risk of cancers and heart disease.
It’s important to talk with your medical team about vitamin D and if the sunlight affects your skin and treatment.
