National Skin Cancer Action Week

I cannot believe so close to Summer I near missed National Skin Cancer Action Week, November 17-23, 2019, especially as I have just had a bit of skin cancer action myself recently. Fortunately mine was not a melanoma but a Basal cell carcinoma. My skin would not have seen the sun much in years but I was reminded that it probably related to sunbathing many, many years ago (with the coconut oil!) When it’s on your back it’s very hard to see. The only reason I became aware, was when it became itchy and we noticed it wouldn’t ever heal. So everyone get checked!!

National Skin Cancer Action Week, is an important reminder to use sun protection and of the importance of SunSmart for all Australians. This year Cancer Council is encouraging teens to be SunSmart with new research from the National Sun Protection Survey showing one in four (26 per cent) teenagers are getting sunburnt on summer weekends.

As the weather warms up stay Sun Smart! Click HERE to find out how.
