These lovely clear days have been great for those exercise walks if you are able, especially in isolation. The trees are full of Autumn colour. Unfortunately those bright colourful leaves start to drop from the trees eventually winding up on the ground and creating a slip and fall hazard.
If we have rain and these leaves can be slippery and they conceal any potentially hazardous defects to the ground beneath, such as loose paving, pot holes or cracks in the footpath. If out and about awareness is the best way to avoid slips and falls so look before you step and choose clear paths whenever possible. The wind can send autumn leaves to strange places creating significant slipping hazards on the concrete steps. Concentrate on walking and avoid talking on your phone and remember social distancing.
Bones weakened from metastatic cancer can break or fracture during everyday activities so extra care needs to be taken not to have accidents. Avoid the dangers and enjoy Autumn.
