December marks Summer, Christmas celebrations and a time to reflect. It’s a time for cancer patients to be extra diligent.

With Covid-19 restrictions being eased family and friends will be wanting to visit for Christmas. With more people contact take care especially when your immune system is at its lowest.

Food-borne illnesses typically increase during the Summer months, when bacteria can multiply quickly.  You should remain vigilant take extra precautions about safe food-handling and which foods to avoid.

Cancer patients need to be extra care with their skin. Radiation treatment can cause your skin to burn more easily. Even during chemotherapy, you want to avoid sun exposure, as your skin may be more susceptible to damage. It’s important to get your Vitamin D but take precautions not to be out in the sun at the hottest times of the day.

Ask your medical team for advice on Summer safety precautions and the affect on your treatment.
