COVID-19 Vaccination and your Imaging Scans

We all know the importance of being Covid-19 vaccinated plus keeping our mammograms, ultrasounds etc appointments up to date.  After doing some research I found this interesting information at Yale Medicine. The article mainly references Pfizer and Moderna vaccinations.

You may not realise that COVID-19 vaccination can also cause other harmless side effects, including swollen lymph nodes. The fact that the enlarged lymph nodes can appear on imaging scans such as mammograms, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds has raised concern among those unfamiliar with this side effect. This has been the case for some women having mammograms, in particular, because the swollen nodes look similar to what could be an early sign of breast cancer. So, if it’s possible to have your mammogram done before you are vaccinated or ideally, you would not have a mammogram scheduled within a month of receiving your last dose.

At least be aware of the situation and check with your medical team so it does not cause you avoidable concern.
